It just so happened that i was studying Acts 16 when Adam first mentioned that he had been approached about a position for Walmart in Miami, FL. Verses 6-10 were of particular interest. Here is what they say:
"Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to. So they passed by Mysia and went down to Troas. During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, 'Come over to Macedonia and help us.' After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them."
Side note: I love how eternal God's word is! It is always relevant and spans all generations and time. I can read this same passage today and get something totally different out of it. *love*
Now, back to November when all of this was happening... God was showing us that He is the one that opens & closes doors. He directs the path of His children. And my BSF notes had these two other very timely verses as well:
Isaiah 48:17: "This is what the Lord says--your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: 'I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.'"
And Isaiah 30:21: "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it.'"
It was a bit of a rollercoaster from November to February when we received the final word on the job, but it was an excellent exercise in trusting the Lord. He has worked out so many details on our behalf! He prepared a wonderful little townhouse for us to live in, He made a way for me to continue working for DaySpring remotely, He provided Adam with time off work to handle the moving/unpacking while I continue to work, and the list goes on & on. We continue to trust that He will do even more. We're praying for a church family and friends here in Florida and for our house in Arkansas to sell quickly. There is much joy in obedience even when what He asks is unexpected and even scary.
I will try to get some pics of the new place up in the next post. It's pretty crazy looking at the moment with boxes everywhere. AND I'm very excited about this palm tree background I found... very appropriate for Florida, right? I also added a place over on the side where you can subscribe for updates by e-mail. Don't be afraid to sign up. :)
